Our customer surveys reveal that ‘price’ is a key decision-making factor when buying new windows, but why?
Replacing windows is not something we want to do; it’s something we must do. Sometimes it’s for aesthetics, but most of the time it’s for comfort, lower energy bills, and increased security.
During 2024 and 2025, 92 Glevum customers were surveyed; 44% stated ‘price’ was a key factor in their decision-making when buying new windows, closely followed by ‘quality’ at 39%.
Apart from price, customers also value quality as being essential, as a longer-lasting product helps deliver a stronger return on their investment.
However, we have found that since Ofgem announced the 13% July 2026 increase to the energy price cap (on 27th May 2026), customers have been trying to quantify their replacement window purchase based on its energy efficiency rating, to ensure an even faster return on their investment.
Our research shows that a customer can expect to save an additional 5% on their annual heating bill when purchasing A+ rated windows over A-rated windows:
BFRC Energy Rated Windows:
- A+ BFRC Rated – 15 – 20%
- A BFRC Rated – 10 – 15%
- B BFRC Rated – 8 – 12%
Upfront vs. Long-Term Savings:
Investing in A+ energy-rated windows can seem expensive initially. However, their long-term savings potential often justifies the higher price point.
The savings on energy bills can be substantial. Homeowners often see a potential 20% reduction in heating and cooling costs (depending on the BFRC rating and the windows being replaced). Over time, these reductions accumulate, offsetting the initial investment.
Additionally, A+ energy-rated windows add value to your property. Their presence can increase your home’s resale value. This benefit makes them an appealing feature for potential buyers and eco-conscious consumers.
